April 2025 News
The Spring 2025 season has begun, and we are excited to play ball! Thank you to all who were able to join us for our Opening Day celebration! We had a great time trading baseball cards, playing wiffle ball, and making it through our inflatable obstacle course.
Special thanks to Mayor Muriel Bowser, Gregory McCarthy Senior VP Community & Government Engagement for the Washington Nationals, Matthew Frumin Ward 3 Councilmember, and Thennie Freeman DPR Director for speaking at the event and throwing out first pitches.

Volunteer and Safety Update
This season we had amazing volunteer turnout with over 150 coaches, assistant coaches, practice helpers, and other registered volunteers to help create a safe and supportive experience on the field. Thanks to all our volunteers!
If you’re thinking about volunteering in the future, please check out the Cap City website for information for volunteers. Among these resources is the updated 2025 Safety Manual, also available directly here.
Using GameChanger for Schedule Updates & Messages
GameChanger is the game day app that syncs with Cap City’s new registration platform, SportsConnect. Cap City encourages all coaches and families to use GameChanger to stay-up-to date with your player’s schedule, indicate your player’s availability, and share important messages. Many coaches and families have already set-up their GameChanger accounts. See below for links to more info:

Looking forward to Summer All-Stars Tournaments
Though it seems early in the season, Cap City is beginning the process for All Stars. All Stars is a separate summer season in which selected groups of baseball players represent Cap City – in competition and in culture – in the DC Little League Tournament and (hopefully) beyond.
We will field a softball all-star team for league ages 12 and under (12U). Cap City is also leading an effort to establish a local softball all-star tournament at the 10U level.

Cap City Gear Exchange
The Cap City gear exchange Google Group is live! We created it to provide a forum for you to buy, sell, or gift baseball or softball gear your player has outgrown. Save money and do a good thing for the planet by buying used instead of new, and give those cleats, gloves, and bats a new lease on life rather than having them take up space in your basement or closets.
To join the group, go to https://groups.google.com/g/cap-city-gear-exchange and click the “Ask to join group” button. Once you have been added, you can email members of the group with what you’re looking for or what you have to sell or gift. You can also view past messages on the group page.
Please join and help us make this a useful resource!
