It’s nearly May and we are almost halfway through our spring baseball and softball seasons. We hope you’ve had an amazing experience so far! We have a lot of news to share, so please keep reading.

Calendar At-a-Glance

Here is the calendar of planned events for now through the end of the Spring 2024 season. Watch your inboxes and our Facebook and Instagram accounts for more details:

  • May 15: All Stars Assessment for 10U and 11U baseball players at Chevy Chase Recreation Center from 5:30 – 8pm. (Rain date will be May 16 from 4 to 6:30pm.) Sign-up will be sent to AAA and Majors (baseball) families soon.
  • May 18/19: All Star balloting for 12U baseball players
  • Week of May 20: All Stars Managers, Coaches, & Rosters will be Announced
  • May 25: Washington Nationals hosted Coaching Clinic for New Coaches. See details below.
  • June 9: TeamUp Festival- Two complimentary tickets for all Cap City players and coaches to the Nationals vs. Braves game at 1:35pm. More details to come.
  • June 9*: Spring season ends

*Subject to change given forced schedule changes due to weather.

Inaugural Season of Cap City’s Challenger Division

Cap City is excited to announce that we’re establishing a Challenger Division, Little League’s adaptive program for kids with physical and intellectual challenges. We’re looking for players from 4-14 to join our inaugural season.

We’ll play on May 4, May 11, and May 18 from 9am to 10:30am at Chevy Chase Recreation Center.

If you have a player that is interested in participating, please sign-up here: https://go.teamsnap.com/forms/424938 If you know of a family that may want to participate, please share this information with them. There is no fee to participate in Cap City’s Challenger Division.

Cap City Spring Event: A Success!

Thank you to all the Cap City players, coaches, umpires, and families for coming out to Cap City’s Spring Family Event on April 6! We loved seeing everyone and hope you had as much fun as we did. Thank you to Mayor Muriel Bowser and DC Ward 3 Councilmember Matthew Frumin for joining us and throwing the first softball and baseball pitches. Thank you to the Washington Nationals for their continued support and partnership with Cap City.

Gearing up for Summer All Stars Tournaments

The Summer All-Star Season is just around the corner! As in the past, Cap City will field 4 All-Star teams – 10U, 11U, and 12U baseball and 12U softball. For the baseball All-Star teams, only players currently registered in Cap City’s AAA and Majors divisions are eligible. For the softball All-Star team, only players currently registered with Cap City’s Majors/12U softball division are eligible. Details on important dates for the baseball All-Star teams have been shared with AAA and Majors families (check your email) – with more information coming soon. More details on the softball All-Star team will be provided soon.

DC Little League Tournament dates are:

  • 12U (Softball) – June 19 – June 23
  • 10U (Baseball) – June 24 – June 30
  • 11U (Baseball) – July 1 – July 7
  • 12U ( Baseball) – July 8 – July 14

Coaching clinic for new coaches hosted by Washington Nationals

All new (1st and 2nd year) Cap City coaches are invited to attend the Washington Nationals Coaches Clinic, presented in collaboration with Inova Sports Medicine, Positive Coaching Alliance, and USA Baseball! There are only 80 slots available, so registration is FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED.

Here are the event details:

 

The clinic will include:

  • Coaches Q&A with Nationals Coaches: Gain exclusive insights and tips from the pros themselves.
  • On-Field Coaching Demonstration with Major League Baseball Player Alumni Association: Learn practical techniques directly on the field.
  • Lunch and Learn about Injury Prevention and Arm Care with Inova Sports Medicine: Discover crucial insights to keep your players healthy and performing their best.
  • Mental Aspect of Coaching Workshop with Positive Coaching Alliance: Explore the psychology of coaching for enhanced player motivation and success.
  • attendees will receive two tickets to a Nationals home game.
