Keep the Fun Going with Playoffs!
Hello Cap City! It’s almost time for playoffs to conclude our Spring 2025 season. It has been great to see players across all our divisions have so much fun and improve since March! I also want to reiterate that our goals for the playoffs are the same as the regular season which is to ensure that every child has a fun, positive experience where they can grow as baseball players and people. Cap City is a special community, one composed of highly dedicated volunteers, as well as youth and families who love baseball and care for one another.
For this postseason in our Majors, AAA, AA, and A divisions, we’d like to ask for your assistance in shaping a positive experience for all. Everyone plays a role in this process. As set forth in the Cap City LL Code of Conduct for Players, Parents, Volunteers, & Fans, we expect all players, families, fans, managers and coaches to display positivity, sportsmanship and respect for another, whether on the field, in the dugout, or in the stands. There will inevitably be close calls, perceived missed calls, fair balls that look foul, etc. These calls in a playoff atmosphere can heighten emotions for both players and families.
Family members and spectators can contribute to this by cheering in a positive manner (always for your own team and never against the opponent) and respecting the decisions of the umpires (e.g., never arguing or commenting on calls). The umpires (especially the kid umpires) are also members of our community and most of the teen umpires are also former Cap City players. They really want to make the right calls so let’s support them in doing their best. Let’s allow the managers and coaches to lead and help our players understand that the goal is not to win at all costs but instead to develop skills, have fun, and to build community with one another.
One note about playoffs: Player rotations may be different than during the regular season. However, players will still sit out equitably meaning no player sits (again) until every other player has sat out (again). All players should have the opportunity to play infield (at least one (1) inning) and outfield positions in each game to include playoffs.
Lastly, please refrain from sending peanut products to the dugouts. There are large numbers of kids who have peanut allergies!
Cap City Gear Exchange
The Cap City gear exchange Google Group is live! We created it to provide a forum for you to buy, sell, or gift baseball or softball gear your player has outgrown. Save money and do a good thing for the planet by buying used instead of new, and give those cleats, gloves, and bats a new lease on life rather than having them take up space in your basement or closets.
To join the group, go to https://groups.google.com/g/cap-city-gear-exchange and click the “Ask to join group” button. Once you have been added, you can email members of the group with what you’re looking for or what you have to sell or gift. You can also view past messages on the group page.
Please join and help us make this a useful resource!
