The Little League World Series kicks off this Wednesday, August 14th, and Lance, the Official Snack of Little League, is excited to celebrate the incredible ways Little League coaches support our kids and communities, both on and off the field, with the 2024 Little League Coach of the Year Award.

After receiving a record-breaking number of nominations, a panel of judges—comprising representatives from Lance, Little League, and the Positive Coaching Alliance—awarded Coach Michael Umpierre of Capitol City Little League this prestigious honor.

Michael Umpierre, the son of Cuban immigrants, grew up understanding the value of hard work, especially within Little League. Inspired by his father, who coached him during his own Little League days, Umpierre now coaches his own son and community, instilling the same values of positivity and inclusivity he learned on the field.

By day, Michael Umpierre is an attorney and Georgetown faculty member, but outside of work, he dedicates much of his time to coaching Little League. Youth advocacy is Michael’s true passion—whether championing juvenile justice or coaching young athletes, he’s a hero in his community every day.
