Inaugural Season of Cap City’s Challenger Division

Cap City is excited to announce that we’re establishing a Challenger Division. The Challenger Division is Little League’s adaptive program that is open to kids with physical and intellectual challenges. Players that can participate in the traditional Little League Baseball or Softball program with reasonable accommodations should continue to do so.

The Challenger Division will play one day a week (likely a weekend morning) for about 3-4 weeks across the Spring, with a fuller schedule for the Fall 2024 season.

We’re looking for:

  • players from 4-14 to join our inaugural season and
  • volunteer coaches to help our manager and program lead, veteran Cap City coach Tom Widor

If you’re interested in signing-up a player or participating as a coach, please fill out this form https://go.teamsnap.com/forms/424938 and Tom will be in touch on next steps. If you know of a family that may want to participate, please share this information with them. There is no fee to participate in Cap City’s Challenger Division.

If you have questions, contact Tom at challenger@capcityll.org

Cap City Family Fun Day – April 6

Join fellow Cap City players, coaches, and families at the largest Cap City event of the year. We will be taking over Chevy Chase field with inflatable obstacle courses, slides, tee-ball, face painting, DJ, and more! Members of the Cap City Board, the Washington Nationals front office, and community leaders will be speaking.

When: Saturday April 6th 5-7:30 pm

Where: Chevy Chase Recreation Center

Who: All Cap City players, families, coaches, and umpires are welcome to attend!

As no food will be served, we encourage families to bring a picnic dinner. Mamma Lucia-Chevy Chase, a Cap City Sponsor, will donate 20% of all sales on April 6th to Cap City. When you place your order, just mention “Cap City” over the phone (202-599-6151) or in the special instructions comments if ordering online. Mamma Lucia’s is walking distance from Chevy Chase Recreation Center. Grab a pizza or pasta for your family and bring it to the event.
