November 2023 News

It’s a wrap – thank you for a great season of Fall baseball and softball!  Many thanks to our over 100 volunteer coaches, 7 volunteer division commissioners (Nationals, A, AA, AAA, Majors, Juniors, and Softball), and awesome umpires (teen and volunteer adults) for making this season a success.  It was great seeing so many of you at the end of season S’mores and snacks event at Rock Creek Park – and thanks to Cap City Board member and events coordinator Rachael Overcash for putting on this community event.  More to come in the spring!

And of course, thanks to all Cap City parents and caregivers for shuttling your kids to and from practices and games while juggling school, work, and after school activities.

As we celebrate Thanksgiving next week, we are thankful for you, Cap City community, for helping give our kids a great on-field experience where they learn, in addition to the fundamentals, the intangibles: sportsmanship, teamwork, and resilience — the guiding principles of our league. Happy Thanksgiving!

Spring Registration and Fee Increase

Registration for the spring season will open Monday, November 27. We’ll send an email once registration opens and send multiple reminders before registration closes.

Registration fees will increase for all players for the Spring season. Cap City will also no longer cover the transaction fees for credit card and ACH (direct deposit) payments. More details on these changes will be shared when registration opens. Cap City will use this additional revenue to continue maintaining and making critical improvements to our fields, replacing equipment, and supporting fun events for our baseball & softball community.

Please do not allow the registration fees to affect your child’s ability to participate in Cap City baseball and softball! We provide full scholarships to those who need them – with no questions asked and no paperwork. Email registration@capcityll.org directly to request a scholarship.

Parent Softball Game – Dec. 10

Calling all Cap City parents who secretly wish they were out there hitting the ball! We are hosting the first Cap City parent-only softball game. The game will be Sunday, December 10th from 12 to 1:45 pm at Chevy Chase Recreation Center. Warm ups start at 11:30 am.

This is a super casual, fun, slow pitch softball game. Kids are welcome to attend and cheer on their parents. If you want to play, please RSVP here. Bring two shirts, a white and a dark colored shirt, and teams will be divided that morning. Any questions please email events@capcityll.org.

If interested, contact Cap City Board member/sponsorship coordinator Kevin Sheives at sponsors@capcityll.org. You do not need to have a kid in the league to become a Cap City sponsor!
